Reverse: 2 original pin fittings with an original blue backplate
Fine and very scarce original badge

Although these blue background badges were only approved in 1987, they were made retrospective.
The badge was not limited to the Navy Diver alone. Recce operators that qualified on the BRONZE/BRASS Army Diver badge (1973) also wore them.
A Recce Diver that attended a Navy function, wore this badge for the occasion. At an Army function, they wore the Attack Diver badge (if they qualified on the conversion).
This badge was NOT only worn on the mess dress, but also on office dress, depending on the occasion.
This badge is an ORIGINAL item. Not a current restrike. Precise detail is illustrated on the originals.
The backplates tend to crack & break and then replaced with home-made plates.
