The first Sudanese Parachutists were a group of ex-prisoners of war by the Italians in 1942 and Incorporated into there 1st Battalion Air Force Parachutists for Intelligence work.
Post-war the Para Battalion began forming in 1964.
In 1975 British 3rd Battalion and instructors taught free-fall techniques while they were there.
